S-61 C 1860 English Apothecary Scale, Inscription
This is a C 1860 English Apothecary Scale in Made Up Oak Box with and Inscription on the inside cover of the box. As best as I can tell, the inscription reads: L. Co. Cambridge 1860 Sparrow 1860 to Archer 1864 Petrel 66 to 70. Not sure what all that means! There are a few other words that I cannot make out. The scale is a steel equal arm beam scale with swan neck ends and glass pans. The beam is 15 cm long and the pans are 6.2 cm in diameter. The Oak box has wire hinges and measures 17 cm x 8 cm. The hinges and clasp are both in great shape. There is a red Hessian cloth in the bottom. There are 3 brass weights, 2 and 1 dram and 2 scruple. The scale is in excellent condition.
