This is a beautiful 18th Century French Coin Scale. It has a steel equal arm beam with double hole ends and brass pans. The beam measures 13.3 cm long and the pans are 4.5 cm in diameter. The box measures 17.3 cm x 4.8 cm. It has wire hinges and 2 brass clasps that close properly. The French label on the inside cover reads “ Table of gold and silver currencies in use in the different states of Europe, with the designation of their weight” and has the comparison chart. There is a full set of 5 brass nesting weights and 5 sheet weights. One of the strings is shorter than the others. This is an exceptional complete scale. (Malter Auction 53, Lot 15, 1993)
