S-79 Late 18th C. Swiss Balance Scale Reserved For Gregg Motter
This is a wonderful Late 18th / early 19th century Swiss Balance Scale. The box is walnut with 2 drawers and there is an ornate oak central post. The equal arm beam and pans are brass. There is a cross stamped on the front of the beam fulcrum and another mark on the back, maybe a leaf? The drawers and the back of the box have hand cut dovetails and the bottoms of the drawers are chamfered indicating the age. This scale was featured in the Malter Auction #26 in 1984. The dimensions are 18 1/4” wide x 8 1/2” deep x 23” tall.
