S-12 19th Century English Apothecary Scale
This is a 19th century English Apothecary Scale in a Mahogany Made up Box which is in excellent condition. It has an equal arm beam scale with swan neck ends and brass pans. The beam is 15.2 cm long and the pans are 6.3 cm in diameter. There is also a stand for the scale to hang on. One of the strings holding the pan is broken. The dimensions of the box are 17.2 cm x 8.5 cm. The brass hinges and clasp are all in excellent condition. The inside bottom of the box is covered by a red Hessian cloth. There are also some numbers marked on the bottom of the box but know idea what they represent. There are 6 weights included, 2, 1, 1/2 scruple, 5,4,3 grains. The small wooden weight compartment is gone. With the exception of the broken string, this is a very nice scale.
