This is a wonderful 19th Century De Grave, Short & Co. Limited Apothecary Scale. It is definitely prior to 1871 when the company name changed. This is the first scale I purchased so it certainly has sentimental value! The base is Mahogany and the beam and pans are brass. It has Modern Bean ends. The name plate is attached to the base and includes the address 102 Naylor Road. London. The letters CIA are stamped on the scale but no idea what that would refer to. The dimensions are 18” wide x 9” deep x 18” tall.
